"For some it feels like religion" anno 1995

Here's a fantastic promotional video for After Effects 3.0 that Michele Yamazaki at Toolfarm has posted.
Great to see faces of some of the gurus at my favorite mailing list AE-list sing the praises of features such as "time-remapping" and "unlimited number of effects."

  • unlimited effects on a layer was amazing - before that we had to precomp everything -there were not adjustment layer, it did teach you to precomp stuff but other than that it was a PITA - still in 3.0 there was no "z-space" so that cosmic zoom was freaking amazing (it still is one of the best I've seen). no expression there was a thing call motion math, kind of a scripted keyframe generator. 3.0 was a great step up from 2.02.

    cheers,

  • I came in rather late on the AE train at version 5.0, but I can totally remember how it was to use Photoshop 2.5.1 for 70 hour work-weeks without layers and with just a single Undo (which was always wasted since you'd always want to go back one more step after "Deselect").
